Owens Corning - Speed and Sustainability with Easy to Install, Softer Insulation

Owens Corning

While famed blues artist Albert Cummings’ music may sometimes be loud, he and his wife Christina Cummings appreciate the quiet of the Berkshire Mountain region that surrounds their new custom home. They’d prefer the sounds of instruments in their home over those from the outdoors. The couple chose PINK Next Gen Fiberglas insulation from Owens Corning for much more than just its proven thermal performance and noise absorption. Introduced in 2021, this innovative advanced fiber technology product from the inventor of fiberglass insulation provides high performance comfort for homeowners and ease of installation for builders and remodelers.

“We continue to innovate our products with the end user in mind,” says Trey McNamee, Marketing Leader for Owens Corning. “The PINK Next Gen Fiberglas insulation is 23% faster to install than our previous insulation to meet builder’s efficiency and timing needs. For owners, this insulation provides exceptional comfort and is made safely with natural ingredients and no formaldehyde.”

The PINK Next Gen Fiberglas insulation is made sustainably, too, with 100% wind powered electricity and the highest recycled content in the industry.

“In one year, this insulation saves 12 times the energy required to make it,” McNamee says.

SPEEDY INSULATION

Labor shortages and higher labor costs mean every builder and remodeler wants a quicker yet high-quality construction process. PINK Next Gen Fiberglas insulation, which recovers quickly from the package, glides easily into wall cavities and fits snugly, provides faster, simpler installation benefits with six points of contact.

Omar Galan of Galan Brothers Insulation, located in the Rio Grande Valley, is one of Owens Corning’s Certified Energy Experts (CEE), a select group of installation contractors trained to help optimize comfort, noise control and energy efficiency for commercial and residential properties. As a CEE member, he had an early opportunity to experience PINK Next Gen Fiberglas insulation, which speeds installation and is easier to handle, with clean cuts and splits, and a softness like cotton.

“The ease and speed are amazing and have impacted our ability to quickly and efficiently complete a job and pass inspections,” says Galan.

As a CEE member, Chris Mullins, owner of Mullins Company in Eastern Tennessee, and his crew had a chance to work with PINK Next Gen Fiberglas, to create a visibly different texture that is easier and faster to install. The advanced fiber technology ensures that it will recover instantly upon opening.

“It really does spring from the package when you cut it open and stiffens up quickly, so it can slide right into the wall cavity with six-sided contact, which means complete R Value for the customer," says Mullins. “This batt also gives off minimal dust, doesn't stick to the installer, and it looks great for inspections. Working with this level of quality makes a huge difference for our crews—they love the PINK.”

While Albert Cummings may sing the blues, his Berkshires home will be insulated in PINK for melodious harmony with his cozy surroundings.
